Nightvision :: Thursday April 15th :: STILL GOING & LAVELLE DUPREE

STILL GOING (DFA RECORDS / NEW YORK)

Still Going arrived on the scene with the now classic "Still Going Theme." The single captivated listeners with its anthemic energy and quickly became a dance floor staple. With the release of "Spaghetti Circus," Olivier "Liv" Spencer and Eric "Dunks" Duncan cement their reputation for creating compelling dance music.

Still Going has produced a steady stream of remixes for an impressive roster of musicians, including The Presets, Doves, Chk Chk Chk, Crazy P, Force of Nature and Low Motion Disco. They've also been busy with their respective DJ project; Dunks with the infamous duo Rub-N-Tug and Liv as one half of dance favorites House of House. On the heels of these numerous endeavors, Still Going have managed to return with a stellar new release -- "Spaghetti Circus." The title track, pairs rubbery bass with trance-inducing waves of swooning, orchestral keys and dramatic piano. The B-Side, "Untitled Love," changes the mood, settling comfortably into a space-ious, swaggering mid-tempo groove.

Still Going currently split their time touring in support of their latest release and in production for their next 12" and new remix projects.

LAVELLE DUPREE

Voted San Diego’s best house DJ, Lavelle has been blowing up dance floors for over 9 years. Whether he’s rocking a crowd of 600 or 6,000, Lavelle grabs you from the moment he gets on the tables and doesn’t spit you back ‘till he’s exhausted you at the end of his set. He can be heard spinning progressive, deep funky house and high-energy trance. He loves to unite a party playing the music he loves. He has shared the stage with such greats as Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Tall Paul, Donald Glaude, Christopher Lawrence, & DJ Dan. In a nutshell...a body moving experience not to be missed.

Nightvision :: Thursday, March 18th :: DATABASE @ HARLOT -- 46 Minna St

DATABASE (Brazil)

Database is one of the biggest electronic names in Brazil! Lucio Morais and Yuri Chix of Database have known each other forever, and in 2007 the two friends decided to create something new—a dance-ey new live act with original beats. They called it “Database” and debuted at the Caravana da Coragem. The two quickly befriended São Paulo’s Paulistano Crew and grew with them artistically and sylistically. This is a group known for its praise of French house, worshiping artists like Daft Punk, Cassius and Les Rhythmes Digitales.

As Database, the two released their first compilation, “Uglyedits Vol.1” in early 2008. Around this time, they were invited to remix Fatboy Slim, and got together with his label (Southern Fried Records) to release their Miami EP, collaborating with Bonde do Role. From these two releases, their notoriety grew rapidly in Brazil, playing in some of the country’s biggest festivals.

In 2009 they released their second compilation, “Uglyedits Vol.2” After this release, even more festivals came knocking to book Database, including the Festival de Teatro de Curitiba 2009, Chemical Music Festival 2009 (Rio de Janeiro), 9 Festival Cultural LGBT, and Vice Magazine Party (2009).

The duo also has impressive press credentials. Folha de São Paulo (the largest newspaper in São Paolo) and DJ Mag named them “Best New Producers” of 2009. Rraurl, one of the biggest electronic music websites in the world, named “Uglyedits Vol. 1” the “Best Compilation” of 2008.

NIGHTVISION :: THURSDAY, JANUARY 21st :: THEM JEANS & CHRIS HOPE :: HARLOT

Jason Stewart, better known to the world as Them Jeans is a constant contributor to the current musical landscape in Los Angeles and an increasing influence in the global music community. Known for his distinct musical creations, Them Jeans has been the driving force behind the world famous club night Dim Mak at Cinespace for over five years, helping to showcase acts as eclectic and renown as Justice, Lady Gaga, and Kid Cudi. His well thought out, genre-bending sets (spanning from house music to southern rap) have recently seen him gaining recognition from publications such as URB, Vapors, and XLR8R, while expanding his fan base through recent touring throughout North America and Europe.

It would be difficult to find another artist out there who can credit remixes by Diddy, Soulja Boy, We Have Band, and Munk to their repertoire and have it all fit perfectly. While they may seem disparate, all of his music shares a genuine belief in crafting one-of-a-kind listening experiences that look toward challenging people’s perception of mainstream music and blurring the line between dance music and every other genre imaginable. Alongside the aforementioned remixes due out later this year, popular bootleg remixes done for the XX, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, and Major Lazer are garnering national attention and radio play. Them Jeans is keeping on his prolific creative pace with an original EP of uniquely crafted house music due out in early 2010 and a sea of original music that should only help to solidify him as an artist not to be ignored. http://www.myspace.com/djthemjeans
